Youth Initiative
The Griffin Theatre Company plans to create an annual access program for middle & high school students 13 – 18 years of age. The Griffin Youth Initiative will offer young people a unique, in-depth engagement, and make a significant contribution to the encouragement and education of the next generation of theatre-goers and theatre makers. Drawn from a range of schools across the Chicago area (primarily CPS students in the first and second year) the program will allow young people who participate in the program to attend all Griffin productions for free throughout the year, engage with casts and creative teams in post-show forums, explore aspects of theatre craft in special workshops, have the opportunity to perform on the Griffin Theatre Company stage and generally join in with the life and workings of a professional theatre company. The Griffin Theatre Company believes that by providing real opportunities for young people to be writers, actors, directors, designers and stage crew we are fulfilling Griffin’s mission of creating innovative, thrilling, provocative and transformational theatre that bridges the generations.
